| SOUTH EAST SOUTHERN COUNTIES MEETING 2007 | |||||||||||||
| In late May, the South East - Southern Area Conference Day took place in Chichester and was on the theme of ‘Fundraising’. We gathered, and were very happy to be joined by Friends from the South East Western Division, at Pallant House Art Gallery. We were warmly welcomed by the Director, Stefan van Raay and his PA, Elaine Bentley. They gave us the background to the amount of work involved and the funding sources they approached in order to raise the millions of pounds required to construct their new extension. We were totally inspired by their determination to see the project reach fruition against all odds. In the afternoon, we went, after viewing exhibits at Pallant House, on a tour of Chichester Cathedral. In the Chantry we met Brian David, who is Chairman of the Friends of the Cathedral. Brian and his Friends used quite different means to meet the financial needs of the Cathedral. Throughout the day there was an excellent interchange of ideas at both venues and, I believe, our attendees found the occasion very rewarding. | |||||||||||||
