| The Linen Hall Library Belfast celebrates its 220th birthday in May 2008 and I have been involved with the library for longer than I care to admit. When the Friends organisation was set up in 1992 I became its secretary and I have been Chairman since 2002. I am also Chairman of the Irish Committee to the Fondation Irlandaise, Paris, which is responsible for running the unique Irish College/Cultural Centre on the famous left bank. I have organised a considerable number of LHL Friends' residential visits to the Irish College, and we greatly value the links which have been established. I have lived and worked all my life in Northern Ireland and I look forward to representing and supporting BAFM members in the region. I pay tribute to the outgoing coordinator Kylene Clarke and hope that I will be able to live to the high standards she has set. | |||||||||||||
