THE FRIENDS OF THE LONDON TRANSPORT MUSEUM

One hundred or so of the Friends’ volunteers (with their guests) attended a ‘Thank you’ party at Covent Garden. Their Chairman welcomed everyone and explained that the evening was really the London Transport Museum’s event to say thank you for the Friends’ significant volunteer input at Covent Garden, Acton Depot and also externally. The Friends’ Executive Committee had, that very afternoon, considered a detailed paper from Graham Page and Joanne Howe, reviewing the full range of volunteers’ activities. These included guiding and explaining at Covent Garden, giving assistance to curators, oral history interviewing, leading depot tours, cataloguing and cleaning, among other activities. There had been a successful sale of surplus items on ebay, which netted over £18,000 over the past year. The evening was most enjoyable and, as can be seen in the accompanying photograph, a good time was had by all!
